How to Make Fabric Covered Buttons

December 7, 2017 March 3, 2018 Renee Romeo3023 views

I will teach you how to make fabric covered buttons.

Would you like to know how to make fabric covered buttons? They are so beautiful in so many applications. I make fabric covered buttons whenever I want to give interior furnishings a decorative little detail.  They are simple to make and require only a small amount of fabric to make them. You may have fabric left over from past projects that would be perfect to use for this project. If not, now is your chance to purchase a complementary designer fabric to match your home furnishings.

Fabric covered buttons are no-sew!

Just two inches of sixty inch wide fabric will make at least thirty fabric covered buttons! You can see why this is such an inexpensive project. These are the types of details that make my art and craft projects extra special. The project is no-sew but (if you prefer) you can always sew the buttons onto your projects permanently. I use these on everything from decorative pillows to pleated drapery panels. You can even attach them to wide ribbon and decorate your Christmas tree with button covered ribbon. I happen to be using my fabric covered buttons for a table runner embellishment. It’s a great way to bring contrasting colors onto my dining table and coordinate with napkins and flatware.

Learn how to make these for more than just wedding gowns:

You can also make fabric fabric covered buttons to embellish your clothing, make earrings or attach them to your fabric shoes. Let your imagination guide you. I can envision them made up to attach to stuffed animals, slip covers, duvet covers, lamp shades, window valances, quilts, bedspreads and decorative throws. There are so many beautiful fabric choices out there, you can literally make hundreds of buttons and never use the same fabric twice!
