My Gluten Free Apple Pie and Crust Recipe
Do you want to learn a great gluten free apple pie and crust recipe? Gluten free baking is a mystery to most folks. Since I follow a gluten free diet for health reasons, this is a recipe I want to share with you. Everyone loves apple pie and I’m using Central New York apples (the BEST apples on the planet) for my pie. You can have the same apples delivered to your door from Beak and Skiff Orchard in Lafayette, NY. They won the USA Today poll for best American apple orchard. It doesn’t get any better!
Why try a gluten free apple pie?
We (as humans) aren’t able to digest wheat products as easily as non-wheat products. The two main-stays of apple pie are apples and butter, which are naturally gluten free. The one ingredient containing gluten and found in the crust is all purpose flour. It contains wheat gluten and is hard to digest for the majority of people. All purpose flour and other gluten products can also cause skin issues and possibly lead to disease. Perhaps the introduction of non-traditional ingredients to your diet can address some of these issues.

Try being a little adventurous. Try making it without sugar too. I’m using a little coconut sugar as a garnish for the top. This sugar has a slight molasses flavor and gives the filling a wonderful flavor. Cinnamon and cardamom spice it up as well. The only thing you have to loose is the gluten. I’m not calling this a health food but it’s a step in the right direction. If I manage to covert you, I will consider this Gluten Free Apple Pie and Crust Recipe (Easy) a true success. In the mean time, taste this recipe and enjoy gluten free baking!
