This pantry cabinet project takes up very little space but addresses all your storage cabinet needs. If your storage cabinets need organizing, this tall storage cabinet will help. Usually, storage units get overrun with pantry items because we can’t see all the products that we place in them. I have cabinet storage ideas that show you how to organize kitchen cabinets like a pro. Not only am I showing you how to build custom pantry shelving (according to your needs), I’m also showing you how to install roll-out storage baskets to improve storage capacity. Storage boxes are useful for lightweight pantry organization but I’m concentrating on all the heavy duty items that you want to store.
What do you need?
I have a materials list here: Pantry Build and Pantry Organization Materials list that you can download and take to the store with you. I’m only using one specialty tool (a DRILL PRESS) to complete this project today but it’s not necessary if you purchase ready-made pantry doors. The drill press is only necessary if you’re installing European hinges in new doors. European hinges are concealed completely behind the door frames and allow for a seamless look for your kitchen cabinetry. You’ll also need a metric drill bit to achieve the correct size hole to accommodate Euro hinges. However, if you don’t want to purchase specialty tools, you may also use American hinges (viewable from the exterior), which don’t require any special tooling for installation.
In order to build pantry cabinets that look professional, you also need a compound miter saw and circular saw. These tools perform very different functions while building your pantry cabinet plans. Please don’t be intimated by these wonderful saws. They are the most useful power tools to own for many other DIY projects as well. I show you how to use both tools for your DIY pantry shelves with perfect results! Also, you may need a couple of clamps (to keep your new woodwork aligned while attaching it) and a cordless drill to secure all the materials together. I think you should have all of these tools in your DIY arsenal anyway because they’re the most-used items that I grab for completing construction projects.
