How to make a DIY Thread Storage Rack

December 29, 2016 March 3, 2018 Renee Romeo5000 views

Learn how to make a DIY thread storage rack.

I will show you how to make a DIY thread storage rack. I am using common materials from my local home improvement store to construct it. If you don’t have power tools to cut wood, you can bring the measurements with you and have your store cut if for you. There is nothing easier than that!  Best yet, It can be made and enjoyed in a weekend.

Would a DIY thread storage rack help you out?

You don’t need a dedicated sewing room to take advantage of this thread storage solution. Most of you probably keep sewing supplies in a box, buried deep inside of a closet. There is nothing worse than rummaging through a sewing basket, looking for the correct spool of thread. If you don’t have a dedicated sewing space, I’m sure you have space behind a door or inside of a closet. It’s not very deep, so it takes up very little little space in the room. It’s possible to make space for a rack like this most anywhere.

How to make a thread collection more manageable…

This rack will make any sewing project a pleasure because you will easily be able to find and identify thread at a quick glance. No more rummaging. Another benefit of using a system this like this is that you can pair bobbins with matching spools! This amazing project is now a favorite part of my sewing room and I know that you will feel the same way about yours. There is no need to pay for high cost specialty thread organizers. This project is highly customized so that you can build this rack as small or as large as you would like. I organize mine according to color, like a rainbow and it’s so pretty!
